Nothing is better than churches that are supporting each other and working together after a crisis - bringing the body of Christ together to share His love. Grace Community Bible Church in Denham Springs, our partner in the 2016 flood response, donated many of their resources to Lake Charles Bible Church. They sent supplies for a response, a sound system, and more to help Lake Charles Bible get back on their feet after being hit by back to back hurricanes this summer.

This week there are local volunteers coming in to work each day on the church’s restoration. Our staff there are helping church members fix up the office building that was flooded during Hurricane Delta. Once the office building is restored we will be able to house week-long volunteer teams from other places to share real help and real hope in the community.

Why do we need teams to come? Because every one of the members at Lake Charles Bible Church was also personally impacted by one of the hurricanes this summer. Their homes and their businesses took on damage and will need to be repaired or rebuilt. One of our goals for the next several weeks, in addition to getting the office building ready for teams, is to personally meet each family in the church. We want them to know that we are there to support them and their community.

How can you help? We know that the pandemic makes it difficult for churches to send missions teams right now, but there are still ways for you and your church to be involved.

Pray – For Lake Charles Bible Church members, church leaders, and the community as they are walking down a long road toward recovery from the storms. For our staff as they transition in over the coming weeks and months and as teams begin to arrive next year. For volunteers to come and expand our capacity to share the love of Christ.

Give – We need resources to sustain this response as we begin hosting teams and continue working in homes in the community. Give here.
