Coming Together For God's Glory

Miss Sheila was out of money, out of ideas, and out of options to fix her parents' home that stood gutted more than three years after Hurricane Florence devastated eastern North Carolina. Her parents have been living with her since the storm, and they have been turned down for assistance in the past. She went to her church after being turned down for assistance again. A deacon shared a ReachGlobal Crisis Response business card from a community cookout, and the church prayed over that card for Miss Sheila to get a favorable answer. About a week later our staff came out to look at the house.

Miss Sheila tells her story to our volunteers and staff

Since we met Miss Sheila, One Harbor Church has helped to get a new roof on her parents' home. And then the county's long-term recovery group agreed to provide funding to restore the inside of the home. With those funds our volunteers were able to purchase everything from drywall to flooring to appliances for the house. Just recently staff from North Carolina were passing through Louisiana, and they were able to pick up a load of donated shingles. Now we can re-roof Miss Sheila's house too, since she has been too busy caring for her parents to even fix her own home! All the repairs that have been a burden for years are finally coming together.

Miss Sheila credits all this assistance to God's provision, and she is overflowing with joy when she interacts with volunteers or Crisis Response staff. We are blessed to encourage her after a long, hard season of waiting. Please pray for Miss Sheila, for her elderly parents, and for the future teams who will get to bless this family.
