"God has not left us."

Responding to Flooding in South Asia

“As I walked among the flood-effected families, I was deeply moved by what one woman told me. Standing in front of what was once her home, now that was washed away, she said, ‘We have lost everything but at least we are alive. That means God has not left us.’

Her words struck my heart. In the middle of unimaginable loss, there was still gratitude, still hope, still faith. I realized that sometimes those who seem to have the least remind us of the greatest truth – that life itself is a gift from God. And as long as we have breath, there is a hope for tomorrow. This experience has reminded me that true strength is not measured by what we own but by the faith we hold when everything else is taken away. This has changed me. I went there to encourage them, but I came back encouraged in my own faith.”

This is an update from one of ReachGlobal's partners in South Asia, a local church planter, who is working to get immediate relief and relational care into villages that were devastated by heavy monsoon rains and flooded rivers. Along with many homes, livestock, food supplies and crops were wiped out and it will be months before fields can be replanted and harvested, leaving many families in the region without food or employment as farm workers. The needs are immediate and long-term, and so are the opportunities to share the hope of the gospel.

Pray for safety and boldness for our local partners who are reaching out to Christians and non-Christians alike, in a very unreached part of the world.

Pray with us for open hearts to receive the love of Christ along with relief supplies. As the immediate needs give way to long-term needs, pray that the continued presence of our partners in these areas would lead to the development of discipling relationships.

You can also participate in this ministry in South Asia by giving. Your gifts provide life-sustaining supplies, open relational Gospel doors, and help facilitate local partners outreach efforts in the flooded areas. Consider making a special gift or committing to give regularly over the next year.
