The Joy of Sharing Jesus
Paul* has been leading a team of over 40 brothers and sisters serving on the frontlines of church planting in difficult, unreached areas of Southeast Asia that were hit hard by the flooding at the end of 2025. Knowing some of the challenges that he’s been working through as a leader, Paul’s ReachGlobal partner began praying that he would experience the joy of personally sharing Jesus with the people where he had lived. Paul recently reported back that God had answered that prayer.
At one of the early medical clinics they’d set up, a woman from the majority religion came to receive some care. As was the custom, people there would start trauma care conversations and just listen to the stories of those who had come. In this conversation, a clear door had opened for Paul to share the gospel with this woman. The Lord was working on her heart, and she asked if they could come and see her husband whose back was hurt and needed care.
The next day they walked 3 hours to her village and Paul asked if he could pray for him in Jesus’s name. The husband refused. The medical worker proceeded to treat his back while Paul continued to share the good news with this woman and challenge her to place her trust in Jesus, and the Spirit moved her heart to declare her faith in Jesus. They then asked again if he could pray for the husband in Jesus’s name. The husband refused again. The wife then came and persuaded him to let them pray for him in Jesus’s Name. The husband agreed, and Paul prayed for Christ’s healing over this man’s life. After they made the 3-hour trek back, Paul told the team at the medical camp that they would need to go back and follow up with this woman and her husband.
Some time later, Paul was able to share the rest of the story with his ReachGlobal partner. He’d gotten word from the medical team that when they went back to the village, the husband came out filled with joy to meet them. The Lord had healed him. The wife was baptized by the local team there and the husband has professed faith in Christ as well. The team has committed to going out there twice a week to continue to disciple these new believers!
For the last several months, the local church has been mobilizing to come alongside our CP partners by helping to provide doctors that set up medical clinics, teachers to provide lessons for the thousands of displaced children, and workers equipped with trauma care training to help bring supplies to families and to sit and listen to their stories. God is transforming lives as workers are able to pray with families, share the gospel, and see people accepting Christ.
Will you pray with us for what God is doing in Southeast Asia? Can you invest in what God is doing by helping to sustain a long-term response in coordination with the local church planters?
