BibleWorks 10: Review

As a preacher and teacher of the Word of God, what are the resources that you consult that enable you to be a better teacher and preacher of that Word? What are the materials you use as you research? Is it limited to the books you have on your shelves?

One of the benefits and fruits of the technological advancement is what is now available in Bible software. With all the computer software available, researching the Bible and theology have become easier. The type and depth of research and the speed with which that research can be conducted is astounding. Additionally, the accessibility and searchability a program provides is invaluable. Although it is not an absolute essential, those who are without Bible software place significant limitations on their study, their teaching and their preaching.

But with all the software out there, it can also be daunting. Which one should one use? Why? What are the benefits? These are important questions.

One of the programs I have used for years is BibleWorks, which has been around since 1992. Now, after many years in updating, they have released BibleWorks 10. BibleWorks was originally designed for work in the original languages. Over the course of the years, they have added a number of other additional resources that have only enhanced an already-exceptional tool. This is one program I always have open on my computer.

Here is how BibleWorks describe the indispensability of the program: “Whether you’re preparing a sermon, doing complex morphological analysis, or writing a seminary paper, scholars agree that BibleWorks is indispensable. You’ll find everything you need for close exegesis of the original text in its 200+ Bible translations in 40 languages, 50+ original language texts and morphology databases, dozens of lexical-grammatical references, plus a wealth of practical reference works! Instead of providing a loose collection of books, BibleWorks tightly integrates its databases with the most powerful morphology and analysis tools.”

As far as users, one of the keys to discerning the usefulness of a program, here is what one notes of BibleWorks, “The essentials are still in place: lightning-fast comprehensive searches and interaction, an array of resources at a startlingly good price, and the unrivalled ability instantly to record fully-formatted notes and resources for each verse. All that has been augmented with more extensive customizability — and still more resources!”

In comparison to other programs, another writes “you’ll find that the search and analysis capabilities and the large collection of versions and databases in BibleWorks are unmatched. Further, when compared with similar Bible software packages, BibleWorks is the most economically-priced package.”

Here are a number of videos that will explain further what BibleWorks does and its benefits.

I greatly appreciate the commitment and focus of the BibleWorks team, as they exist to serve the church for the glory of God.

Our goal is to further the kingdom of God through the ministry of the Word; our commitment is to pastors, students, scholars, and missionaries. We want BibleWorks to be useful for you. . . . our goal is still to serve the Church and to assist the study, the exegesis, and the preaching of the Scriptures so long as the Lord finds us useful for His purposes.

If you are looking for an excellent Bible software to serve as a resource for your study as you prepare to preach and teach, I recommend BibleWorks 10!
