Cake Fight!
Most churches that celebrate “Move-Up Sunday” do so with some pomp and circumstance—soberly recognizing those who are moving up into another level of education (from elementary school to junior high, for example). Not so at Elim EFC in Puyallup, Wash. Since 2004, “moving-up” at Elim has meant some sort of food-related battle: first mustard and ketchup, then pudding, and now (for the past six years), cake.
All students from junior high through high school are invited to participate. And this year, parents were also included. Students baked their own cakes. And this is what transpired. Parent Frances Amos (in pink shorts) might be rethinking the wisdom of participating. . . .
