The Church Is Here to Hold Us Together

Listen to John Perkins on the good news for all people

Looking back on his own history and on the history of the church, Dr. John Perkins, founder and president emeritus of the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation, preached on “American Evangelical History: Miles Walked and A Lived History” at the 2018 Theology Conference.

“What makes us Christians is coming together and standing together, paying it forward like Henry Ford said. He said, ‘Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.’ The Church is here to hold us together. The Church is here to carry the message. The Church has been stewards of this gospel. What a privilege! What a privilege that God would redeem us. The mission is what the angels cry: ‘Behold, I bring you good news of great joy—not just to the colored people, not just for white people, not just to the Mexican people. Behold, I bring you good news of great joy, which should be to all people, for unto you is born this night, in the city of David, a Savior who is the Christ the Lord.’” — Dr. John Perkins
